Dell+ValueRam: compatible?

Sorry but I tried to find my answer in other forums and could not. Surely someone has tried this:

I have a Dell 4550 which has a 533Mhz FSB and takes DDR333 memory. When I go to the Kingston website, they have a deal on 512MB of ValueRam for $68 shipped, but they also have 'Dell specific' RAM for $107.

Since I see I can't overclock this Dell, I figured the ValueRam would suite my needs. But the rep. from Kingston says that the ValueRam would probably not work because even though the specs are the same, the 'build' is different.

Are they feeding me a line? Has anyone tried Kingston ValueRam in a Dell?

The Dell might use ECC ram and the Value ram is Non-ECC. Double check muchacho!

Good guess since I originally left out that info in the post, but it states non-ECC in the specifications of the Dell manual.
