Ive got an disasemled gateway SOLO 2500 notebook and before reasembling it Ive ckecked the small battery cell (brand: PANASONIC, diameter 12mm) which is soldered to the systemboarde. the meassured voltage is 0,8 V (notebook was manufactured in 1998) so maybe its a dead battery or an discharged akkumulator.
its NOT the CMOS battery, bacause these is a external batterypack with 7,2 V.

does anybody have a idea what this small battery is used for? and as I want to replace it, what type of cell, litium battery or akkumulator I have to use?

thx
