Win98 SE Scandisk

Whenever I run scandisk in through mode my system locks up and the only way I can get back it rebooting by cold booting. This has happened all the time since I build this system. I have pIII 550 machine with Nvidia Geforce video card and 64MB. Any help.

try booting into dos via the boot menu and type this at teh command prompt

scandisk c: /surface /autofix

you may have a bad spot right where scandisk is sitting
