I know! USA!

arf... no... miss Kentucky Fried Chicken, pickup and a touch of prudichness.

Yeah more guns ... more sugar ... more takeaway ... more caffeine.

After the survivors limp home from their shoootouts they can order fast food and sit on the couch till their hearts give out under the strain of all of that fat.

America ... if the guns don't getcha the couch and food will.

He who has the biggest plasma wins ...

What exactly are you aspiring to in terms of a way of life?

Hint; the cowboy lifestyle was in fact a lie ... hollywood dressed up a smelly pig there and it appears many of you bought it ... lock ... stock ... and barrel.

Giddy up pardners ...

Yes.

The NATO round is 51mm long ... not quite as powerful as the .30-06 ... but versatile and an excellent section machine gun or sniper round.

I have no idea why i posted this as I am not a gun nut ...

Both not correct.
The "X51" part of the designation does not designate the length of the round. The NATO round is about 3" (75 - 80 mm) long. And it is just as powerful as the standard .30-06.

From wikipedia:
"The cartridge itself offers similar ballistic performance in most firearms to the .30-06 Springfield that it replaced in U.S. service. Though shorter, standard loadings fire similar bullet weights at similar velocities. Modern propellants allowed the same velocity from a case with less capacity. The smaller case requires less brass and yields a shorter cartridge. This shorter cartridge allows a reduction in the size of the firearms that chamber it."

Both cartridges result in 158 grain slugs (standard military loads) at a muzzle velocity of about 2800 fps. The .30-06 has more potential when handloading because of the larger cartridge case.

Personally for a sniper round, I'd prefer .338 Lapua.

I think I am correct plus I have fired enough of them to know having spent time in the military and as a techy servicing the mods for the FN series ... the SLR / AR (FN) and ANPSG-1 etc.

The 30-06 has a bit more kick ... albeit an older design.

The 51mm refers to the case length ... not the round ... your being pedantic there.
I could be more pedantic ... Case length 51.18 mm (2.015 in)
