Ok. So I have to save up for university, so i'm not allowed to buy any more computer parts (Over like $10 CAD). However, I need to get more FPS in my games. Here's my crappy specs:

Athlon 1.11 ghz CPU
MSI nVidia GeForce 4 MX4000 128mb 256-bit running on 4x AGP
392 mb SD-RAM PC 133 + PC 100
40 GB WDC 7200 RPM HD

What software utilities/overclocking could I use to get more FPS? Which Windows Distro would best suit (Choices: 98SE, 2000 Pro, ME, XP Pro, XP Home, Longhorn, Windows 2003 Server)? I only use this PC for games, so anything can do. As well, I added a small fan to my video card hoping there would be some advantage to it.

Hmmm its gonna me very hard to squeeze much more performance out of that. What kinda fps games you wanna play? UT2004 works ok on my 1.1Ghz athlon T'bird so Im sure it will work ok on yours. But if you wanna play far cry or half life 2 forget it.

Find out how much you could pick up a single 512Mb Dimm of PC133 off ebay for that might help, then get rid of you PC100 stick.

I agree that 98se is prob the best os for you, dont get ME (btw longhorn isnt going to be out till 2006 and by then your computer will be worth about as much as my socks).

You could try overclocking your vid card, goto http://www.guru3d.com and get the nvidia reg tweak. But dont expect to see huge performance increases, 2-3fps prob.

You could always donate plasma. That'll get you some fast money for whoring your body's precious fluids.
