The Product Key is not stored in the registry. To see the Product Key,
you can run the Magic Jellybean program (free):

Did you purchase your current XP retail? Give some details if you want
more help. If you have a pirated version, you will not be able to
install Service Pack 2.

Do you have a legal copy of Windows?

If you are trying to install a WinXP Service Pack and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

You need to purchase and use a _legitimate_ full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.
