Searching newegg last night, with just Corsair Value Ram, PC2100 was priced way higher than PC3200... what the heck... PC3200 is backwards compatible at even greater timings...

Some old BIOS doesn't recognise the SPD values properly on PC3200 and prevents boot, meaning people often have to do a BIOS update in order to use PC3200 as PC2100. What's more, people DON'T KNOW the PC2700, for example (since there's usually no BIOS problem), is backwards compatable. In fact, companies used to buy PC133 and RELABLE it PC100 for the same reason.

Ya, I have been trying to get a friend who is the tech director for my school district to sell me two sticks of Kingston 256MB PC2100 ram for $25 each, but he wants $38 each... I am just going to buy one stick of PC3200 512MB Corsair Value Ram for $90 and use it in my mother's computer... the life span will be so much greater...
