I wouldnt recommend the silicon image Sil3112a, I had compatability issues with it and my old motherboard.

2x120Gb 7200.7 in RAID0
Waterchill KT12-L30
Abit AI7
Radeon 9800Pro

I had problems with and Add in Sil3112a PCI card and my old Abit SR7-8x board. I didnt detect the drives at all when I first used it, so I updated the BIOS for the card and then it did detect the drives but then froze.

Probably your card was defective or the card itself was badly layed out or uses cheap componenets. Somtimes brand is important.

I also tested Abit NF7-S (built in Sil3112a). It has no problem at all. So I don't think that Sil3112a is the problem.

Okay, doing a Sandra 2004 test, I have got a score comparison for my HDD.

34526 - WD 40G PATA (Master boot disk)
74283 - Hitachi 120GB (in raid 0 with S1022-I SATA card)

Speed is much faster ^_^
