HARD DRIVE

Here is my issue. I bult a 64 bit windows 7 computer. I bought a new hard drive everything works fine. I installed my old hard drive from my xp computer. I could see all the files. I can not access them. Can I convert the old hard drive to share? What are the steps

You need to right-click on the folder and go into the security options. First, take ownership of the folder and all it's children, then change the permissions for the folder and children to allow your account "full control" access.

^ yes.

also... some files might not work as your xp installation was most likely 32 bit.

^ your files should be ok to run even if they are 32bi, the only thing you will have trouble with accessing is programs that are 32bit.
