I want to buy a Palm based PDA, Sony or Palmone, with WiFi and
Bluetooth.
Anyone recommend how it is best to do this, either in an all in one or
via expansions?

You'll probably want to steer towards Palm, as Sony has exited the US PDA
market, making the purchase of a new Clie a more difficult adventure.

Unfortunately, I'm not as conversant in current Palm offerings, so I'll
defer further comments to others.

There are no models with both wifi and bluetooth. SDIO wifi cards for a few
models have been announced. Having both, and having them both turned on,
will reduce battery life significantly. The only Palm model with wifi is the
Tungsten C, but there are several with bluetooth.

1. Sony TH-55, European model. North American models don't have both.
Tablet-format, uses Graffiti2 (ugh). Must be purchased from a European
vendor or used.

2. Sony UX-50, clamshell folder w/ keyboard. On closeout, so eBay is your
best choice on the web if local stores' supply are exhausted.

3. Sony UX-40 plus WIFi Stick. As #2.

4. Palm Tungsten 3 w/ Enfora WiFi case. Tablet format, uses Graffiti2
(ugh).

5. Palm Tungsten W PalmPhone w/ Bluetooth SDIO card and Enfora WiFi case.
Tablet format, uses keyboard and (with Graffiti Anywhere) Grafitti1 (yea!)
if the 1.0 upgrade has not been applied. If the upgrade has been applied,
you get Jot/Graffiti2 (ugh). Cellular portion is GSM/GPRS, so this would
give you three-way connectivity. Buy the unlocked version from a Canadian
or European if you wish to use with Cingular, T-Mobile or any carrier other
than ATT Witless, as US-sold dub-yas are locked to ATTWS. Since T-Mobile
has a $30/mo all-the-data-I-can-download plan, or a $20 option for existing
voice plans, that's what I did.

Palmone site is NOW showing the wifi sd card, and you can purchase it...

http://www.palmone.com/us/products [...] sioncards/

the card is ONLY for the z72, and the t3....

So, you can purchase a z72, or a t3, and wifi card...

You can also purchase the tungsten "c".....it has wifi built in...but no
Bluetooth.

And, there is a sandisk wifi card for the z71....so, you got 4 models that
you can get wifi on...not including the Sony choices...

A variety of Palm devices work with the Enfora Wireless LAN Portfolio.

Pick a device with Bluetooth and get the Enfora case that works with it.

Yes, they're not integrated into one gadget but the Enfora case provides
additional battery power that can also be used to recharge the handheld.

<rumour and conjecture>
However... take a look at this story -
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/ [...] ngsten_t5/
and the linked forum here -
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthr [...] ge=2&pp=15
where a discussion and leaked (or perhaps made-up?) picture suggests
that the T3 is to be replaced with a sliderless design model
incorporating both Bluetooth and Wifi. And more memory and the lovely
320x480 screen. Could all be false but given Palm's release timings it
seems likely that the T3 will be replaced with *something* better
sometime in the next month or so. Perhaps they'll even give it a
decent battery...

Bull.

The Sony Clie UX50 has both. The European (and European *only*) version of
the Sony Clie TH55 has both.

Although Tom appears to be in the UK where this may or may not be an issue.

But Sony no longer sells PDAs in the US. There may be some remaining stock
in some stores, but I suspect support will be rather lacking.

Since the OP was posting with a .uk address, I didn't deem the US market
situation to be critical information.

Is Sony still selling in the UK? I was under the impression that they had
pulled out of everything except Japan. Perhaps I was mistaken, since I don't
keep up with Sony that closely, and apparently neither does most of the PDA
world.
