I'm running Windows XP on a 700 MHZ machine, with a Legend mobo on board with an Award BIOS.

I popped in my Optorite 52X CDRW and it comes out as a AXV CD/DVD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device. I cant find any Optorite drivers. I am stuck!!!

I've tried everything I can think up, and I cant choose my own drivers in Add New Hardware cause I only get to see CD ROM Drivers, not CDRW.

Anyone know any Generic CDRW drivers that might work or the drivers themselves for the drive?

Is this a motherboard problem or something?

Thanks.

All CD/CD-RW/DVD/DVD-RW/DVD+RW drives use the same Windows ASPI driver. You don't need to install anything.

AXV probably manufacturers the drive, and Optorite just sticks their name on it and sells it. In the future I'd spend the extra $10 or $20 and get a drive with name you recognize (Sony, NEC, Toshiba, HP, Plextor...)

Does your burning software recognize your drive?

Try this software - it'll tell you your drive capabilities: http://discinfo.rpc1.org/#Download
