Remote desktop accessed without permission?

I have norton internet security 2012 installed on my windows 7 pro hp desktop.
Today when I did a crap cleaner scan, it came up with approx. 22,000 kb of files to be deleted from "remote desktop".
I did not use the remote desktop.
Who would use it without my permission, and how could they do that?
Or are there programs that actually use it as part of their operations?
I'm concerned about security, as my (fairly new) computer has slowed down considerably.
thanks
Jean

the best way to find it do a full virus scan and use malwarebytes for spyware software, also check if there is one you did not install yourself on it and dont know what is doing are you the only one at home who use this computer
