I have Compaq Presario R3000Z almost two years. It's been working very well till last month. All of a sudden, it stopped rebooting when I reinstalled OS. After I turn it on, only cooling fans and DVD-ROM work but nothing else even power indicator.
Any suggestions? Many thanks.

That's odd, is this the same with the battery removed and working with the power supply only?
If so:
Nothing at all on screen?
If so, it looks to me that you must check the internals: remove the second memory stick, if you have 2, the one easy accessable. Try to boot up. Clean out the fan area, (can't harm after 2 years) check the cpu for burn marks.
