Reinstalling Windows (w/ USB CD-ROM) on a Vaio

I purchased a PCG-505FX Sony Vaio Super-slim laptop on Ebay and I want to reformat the HD and install Windows 98. I also bought a USB CD-ROM (which also says it can be connected w/ PCMCIA, I'm not sure how) which I haven't received yet. Will the BIOS recognize the drive so that I can boot from the floppy and then install from the Windows 98 CD? Is a network installation possible? Thanks.

dont know if it will, does your bios support bootable/usable from a USB device under its bootup sequence, if not then no... if U connect via PCMCIA then it may well work that way, hopefully U will get PCMCIA card & cable... try booting with floppy/CD B4 U wipe current OS install

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

Chances are, there is no option to boot from USB device option in your Sonys BIOS.
