I just bought my first sound card. It's a SoundBlaster Live! LS and it was $30. And I noticed it puts out 16-bit sound. Is there a big difference between 16-bit and 24-bit sound?
Well I don't mess with online shopping anymore because it's such bullshit. And the only shops in town that sell computer parts are Staples and WalMart. And I don't really need one anyway...oh well. The only reason why I got was because I had $25 gift card for WalMart so really it only cost me about $6
you don't have to excuse yourself, we all here are cheap and poor (except some nice fellaz like me of course, and that card sounds much more than $6, so you are in good shape for a long time
..this is very useful and helpful place for information...
all cd format sound is 16 bit. I can record at higher bitrates, and don't because of dithering. 16 is fine for most people. That is an ok card if you are just playing games and listening to mp3's. If you want to record or want better sound, get an m-audio revolution..... and better speakers. They make more of a difference the the card. Michael

There seem to be performance problems with many cards
at 1000 Hz and its harmonics. Is this a problem
in the measurements a problem in common to the cards.
