I just got a compaq presario 900 from a family member because it was broken, and when i press the power button it does nothing.
I used the cable and plugged it in, and there's a red blinking light next to this battery sign.
I unscrewed the correct panel that corresponded with the + sign battery
and it was RAM.
does this mean that RAM is broken or do i need a new battery.

To properly diagnose power issues on a laptop, the aim is to remove as many componets as possible from the machine, first and formost the battery, but also RAM, optical drive, hard drive, mini-pci card(s) (wireless card-- carful with the antennas) and the, if applicable, modem card-- whatever is easily accessible.
