I picked up a 512mb stick for peanuts. It's KHX3500/512R. What is the difference between the 512R and the 512A stick? Since it is 2003 produced memory, could it be BH-5?

Hello Craig,

The R in the part number really means nothing, however if you have a part
that has the A and another that does not have the A then this would make a
difference. The part with the A has timings of (2.5-3-3-7) while the part
without the A has the timings of (2-3-3-7). So the difference is a half
cycle on the Cas Latency, making the module without the A a little faster.
Unfortunately the part without the A has been discontinued and it no longer
being distributed. So if you need to purchase a match pair you will need to
get the part with the A. I do hope that this clears things up for you.

PLEASE REPLY WITH E-MAIL HISTORY !

I guess this makes this BH-6 or CH-6.

This stick is toast! No post and nothing but error codes! I guess we will see if Kingston's Lifetime Warranty means anything! :frown:
