OfficeMax had a sale on the Norcent LT-2025W for $299 USD.
The specs claim it is 1366 x 768 pixels and 8ms.
It also has a TV tuner builtin and is HD ready.

Is this too good to be true?

Unfortunately all the OfficeMaxs that have it just have it plugged into a dvd player and not a PC or a HD source so i cant see the quality.

I can't find any other 20" widescreen LCD with TV tuner with a true 720P resolution that yields that same resolution when connected to a PC, and certainly not for anywhere near that price.

A similarly priced 20" widescreen PC monitor would give a slightly higher resolution (say 1440 x 1024) but would not include a tv tuner.

Why is this so cheap? Is it really 1366 x 768 or does it just accept that res and scale it back to say 1024 x 600?

If it is this good, why are the competion all low res?

I am contemplating getting it just to see.
It seems like a good alternative to getting a 20" widescreen PC LCD and using a tv tuner plugged into the PC (which ties up the PC when watching TV or at least requires it to be turned on).

The other usage is to eventually plug it into a XBOX 360 or PS3.

Has anyone out there bought one of these things?

Mythbuntu is an OS that can record TV programs. You can install XBMC on it and play all of the most popular video formats. Linux has a number of video players besides XBMC -- mplayer, ffmpeg, xine, and even Boxee. Linux prefers Nvidia video cards for playing video.
