While looking for a second 172x for my dual monitor setup I came across several articles regarding the zero-dead pixel policy that samsung has in South Korea. I also came across one article about a zero-dead pixel policy that (according to the articles publish dates) went into effect january of 2004. (I did view this article before the update on march 25th of this year) I was wondering if anyone could confirm where this was in effect. Behardware as far as I can tell is in france. I just was wondering if anyone could confirm or discredit this article(preferrably for Samsung-USA).

The article is <A HREF="http://www.behardware.com/articles/519/page9.html" target="_new"> here </A>

I think the article you're referring to is here:

I don't know if I would put much stock into it. Samsung is from South Korea. The zero pixel defect warranty is applicable only in South Korea. What do you think happens with all the monitors that have one or more dead pixels?

By the way, Samsung's USA dead pixel policy can be found here:

http://erms.samsungusa.com/customer/sea/jsp/faqs/faqs_view.jsp?PG_ID=1&AT_ID=5608&PROD_SUB_ID=28&PROD_ID=-1

By the way, standard disclaimer, I am an employee of Amptron, which is a competitor to Samsung with regards to LCD monitors. Although I've taken my own interest in dead pixel policies, so you're free to ask about any aspect of them. To be honest, I'm come away fairly disillusioned with a lot of LCD monitor companies, because there's almost always some marketing trick that they use to make their policy sound better than it really is.
