1 80mm intake in the front of the chassis
1 80mm exhause in the back of the chassis below the PS
1 80mm fan in the power supply
1 stock fan on my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
1 ThermalTake Volcano 7+ on my AMD XP 2100
My case has an air duct on the side panel that extends to just above the heatsink so that it can suck cool air directly onto the heatsink. With the Volcano switched to low, you can barely hear any of the fans running, but the airflow noise is very loud (don't even ask what it sounds like when the Volcano is on high!). To complicate this problem, my office used to be a medium sized walk-in-closet off of our living room, so the sound tends to bounce around in there a lot.
I'm looking for a low cost (read: very cheap) solution to make my computer quieter while still maintaining the decent cooling that I have currently. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
