Unfortunatly, the number of monitors that Tom's Hardware has tested is limited. I am looking for a 20" or better monitor with good response times (no widescreen) and good color.
So far, Tom's Hardware has tested the following 20" models:
Acer F20, FP202W, 20GX2, and, VX2025WM. None of the models achieve 16ms across the board (although two come somewhat close).
On the other hand, only three 19" monitors tested by Tom's hardware were around the 16ms range: VP930 (14-17ms), VX922 (5-10ms), and VP191b (12-15ms)
Unfortunatly, once you move away from Tom's Hardware, you don't get as thorough testing done on the response time, so I don't know where to look for other monitors to consider. Perhaps someone here knows of some other monitors/reviews to consider that might help?
I have checked out the behardware.com reviews, but they are not near as thorough in testing the response times as Tomshardware is. Two monitors that were of interet, were the Viewsonic VP2030b and the Samsung 204b. However, behardware says they are not as good in the response arena.
I think you're fishing in the wrong hole. 20.1", UXGA screens have been designed and marketed to enterprise, not gamers. So, they went for higher quality display (PVA, IPS panels)... but they don't have the speed of TN.
Some makers have been attempting to use overdrive to speed up PVA and IPSs and have met with some success.... but not yet the speed of TNs. (One review cited the response time of the NEC 20GX, with AS-IPS panel @ stated 6ms, was "indistinguishable from the Viewsonic vx922". So, and while we know makers' claims for response time and contrast ratio are likely to have a large element of "creativity", speeds have improved in high quality panels.)
The Samsung 204B has a TN panel and is an attempt at gamer speed in a UXGA display.

The Samsung 204B is available locally. However, I don't know how well it does at colors being a 6-bit panel. The VP2030b might also be worth a look, but it too is a little iffy.
