I've recently made the jump to a flat panel lcd for my newest computer, and I have a question. The monitor that I have, a Sceptre X20g Naga III, at times will produce a very slight flickering or shimmering effect. It's hard to describe, but it produces a variation in brightness that varies in time, and you can make out flickering horizontal bands. It's not very noticable usually, but I'm curious if anybody has heard of this problem on this or another monitor. The effect is mostly seen with larger expanses of a similarly colored medium dark area. I'm using the VGA port right now if that matters.

My Sceptre X20g Naga III just started doing something similar. When I turn it on it will sometimes start flickering and you can actually hear a slight ticking noise (sounds like a computer trying to process). After a few seconds of that the screen goes completely black. The SCEPTRE logo is still blue so I know that it is still registering it to be on, however I have to shut the monitor off and then on again to get the screen back. It all happens kinda random. I think its mostly when it first starts up.

I read a few possibilities online and one said that the power save modes on the computer can get screwy. So I turned them all o never and 5 seconds later my screen went black. So I know that's not the problem. Also they said that it could be the power supply, but I just got mine a few months ago.
