I'm looking at getting an 80GB HDD from either Maxtor or Western Digital. They are both the same price. Any ideas on which on is better?

Thanks.

I would get a Western Digital. I have an old computer with a Western Digital from 1994, and it still runs fine 10 years later. I currently have an 800JB, and a 400BB, and both drives run very well.

I would get WD, however the store I'm getting it from doesn't offer a 80GB version. I've already spent a lot of money on other components so thats why I'm settling on either the Seagate or Maxtor-- So once again, Which of the two are better.

Thanks for the help.

Western Digital hands down. 2 Maxtor drives have died on me, and the 3rd give me a "WARNING! IMMINENT HARD DRIVE FAILURE" message on boot up (not an important system mind you).

All of my WD drives are running quietly and quickly.

If it's seagate or maxtor then seagate :)

I have a 2.1 GB seagate drive from 1997-98 or so I think still running right here :)
