Hello friends, i want to know the file type in dos and i wrote the santax - type [file name] in same directory.but i got the error -Access is denied...

santax would be syntax I believe.

Dir *.* in the directory of interest will show up all files and their extensions.

You could also try Dir filename.*

Which is why I said it didn't make sense. Doing a "dir" of the directory will give you the extensions. There is nothing special to do. Did he not know Dir?
