Whenever I open a Windows Media player video, I experience a kind of jittering or shearing effect. The video can even be paused and the it happens.
What is interesting is that this effect is not present whatsoever on quicktime files. When running in Windows Media player, the video will not show up on a second monitor that is in clone mode; in addition, a screenshot cannot be taken of the video. So..., I am assuming that this problem is due to some form of content protection -- possibly where they send the video feed directly to the monitor and bypass the OS.
Is there any way to stop Windows Media player from doing this and just running a regular video through the OS?
Solution:
In Windows Media Player go to Tools > Options > [Performance]
Then under the "Video Acceleration" section, click on [Advanced...].
Uncheck the item that says "Use overlays"
This will get rid of the "moving pixels" in video playback that is horrible on LCD monitors.
