Hey everyone, I am going to be entering into mechanical engineering this fall and I have begun to look at laptops. I am just wandering on what GPU to go with. I am trying to decide between getting a mobile workstation that has a 1GB Quadro FX 3700m or to go with a high end gamin laptop with 2GB 9800m in sli? Price is not really that big of a deal, I just want to get the best laptop for engineering. If you think though that the 9800's would perform just as good as the fx 3700m then let me know as I would like to be able to use the computer for games as well. So just let me know what you think about this and if you have any suggestions feel free to make them. Thanks.
I'm no expert on engineering applications, but I would go with the SLi. The pair are potent enough for engineering apps. They'll shine in games. The 3700 will do decently in games, but shine in engin apps. It depends on what you're going to do more, I suppose. If you really can't decide, I'd get the SLi and let the school provide you with engineering equipment.
