I have no idea about LCD monitors but the wife said she wants one. I know some about the old CRT, like refresh rates and pixel per inch ratings. But what do you focus on pertaining to an LCD around 19 inch. Ive seen some with 500:1 ratings up to 700:1 ratings. But if I use it for medium gaming what else do I need to focus on?

For one: Average Response Time – The lower the better.

If you plan on gaming, ideally you should target monitors with no more than 8 ms of average response time.

you should pay much attention to such item, viewing angle, max. brightness, response time and ideal resolution. For gaming, response time and ideal resolution are necessary.
Hope you get a ideal lcd monitor earlier!

Oh lord no! Response time is often fudged by manufacturers and can be the most misleading feature on an LCD...

Decide first whether you want wide screen or standard... Then decide size then come back

do you have any good suggestion?

I know… they come up with that whole "gray-to-gray" BS and such. But what can we do?

But in the very least, it offers a base of comparison. Not rock solid, but it will have to do (since they all twist it the same way…).

First thing you have to decide upon is whether you're going to be concerned with "low price, "gaming performance" or "everything else".

Gaming monitors have faster response times and lower costs due to being built on a TN panel. Unfortunately, they are comparatively weaker at "everything else".

I looked on new egg and seen these, for the price and the ratings Ive narrowed it down to these.

Dont feel shy, criticize away. Thats the only honest way to learn in my book.

Those are all "value" monitors with TN panels. And as such, the display quality will be about the same for all. Pick one with some extra feature you like and which also has a 3-year warranty.... not all do.
