2 gig ram
amd x2 tl-56 - 1.8ghz
7600go video

original motherboard fried laptop is over 2 years so no warrant. we had it tested at a HP service center.

I ordered a mobo from ebay hooked it up.

during bootup i have numbers mostly sets of 4 zeros and symbols all over the screen you can hardly recongnize the boot up options.

during the windows load screen I get nine or ten sets of vertical lines about inch apart and 4 lines each. And finally in the end...

it tells me in the bsod that there is a problem with the niv4. mini. sys and that its a page fault like its trying to allocate a area it shouldnt be?

this is a hp dv9000 series with nvidia go 7600 video turion x2 1.8ghz amd core 2gig ram

the people I bought it from claim it was fully tested and worked fine and have asked me to swap memory and hardrives. but claim they will replace it or refund my money if it just happens to be defective.

any help or ideas would be helpful

thanks in advance

The GPU is damaged. Is it a separate board, or is there no actual GPU board on the unit?

the chip is built inboard but with 256mb seperate memory its not shared. I told the guy that sold it to me that is was a video issue but he claims he tested tested it and kept asking me to swap out memory or hardrives ..lol I kept saying im no computer expert but this is a video issue imo. so he as said I can send it back for another or a refund.

Send it back then. There's really nothing you can do about it, aside from replace the motherboard - and if you decide that route...good luck.
