Invisible file?

Yesterday, when I turned on my computer, I noticed that one of my excel file on my desktop was gone. I made another one with the same name and tried to put it on the desktop but when I do, excel says

Games1.xlsx already exists. Do you want to replace it

. I do not what's happening here because I have

show hidden files

on. Please help!

Open Desktop folder in explorer and switch to the details view to have it alphabetically sorted . Can you see Games1.xlsx there?

Next would be to search for the exact filename in drive c: from explorer. It will show you the full path to the file.
