I have set up this combination -Hight Point R1511+ RM1110 + HD 7K250 120G (8M)- which are used on my own built system. HD Tach 2.7 gives scores that 52.3MB/S is at max, 28.2MB/S at min and 42.3MB/S is the average. Is the speed normal ?

I am assuming that is read performance. What motherboard are you using? Also, try updating the drivers. The partition should say 240 GB, but it seems to me like the RAID array is not working. I just ran HD Tach on my Western Digital 80 GB w/8MB, and I got 50.4 MB max, 28.2 MB min, and 41.7 MB average. You should easily be getting 75 MB read performance. Did you go into the BIOS, and select RAID 0 (striping)?

That sounds about right, the 250G is something like 60.9 max, 30.2min so the 120G will be a tad slower. Pretty good setup for an external drive, the most you will get out of firewire is 35MB/s and USB2.0 is even worse, around 28MB/s.

USB 2.0(480Mbps) has a larger theoretical maximum bandwidth than firewire(400Mbps).

My Motherbaord is A7V8X-X,CPU is Barton 2800+ and memory 512M. I don't use Raid 0 because I currently only use 1 drive. All sound like that speed is normal with this set up. But I am little disappointed as I thought it should be better.

Firewire is available up to 800 megabit. For some reason, 400 megabit firewire also seems to have a performance edge over "faster" USB 2.0.

Here are my storage config - upgradeware sata controller S1022-E (Sil3112A chipset) with new Hitachi 7K250 160G/8M in a Native SATA enclosure. I got 64.3MB/S max, 34.2MB/S min, and 58.4MB/S average. Very cool, silicon image has better performance than highpoint.

That's true, I've seen quite a few reviews lately where Highpoint controllers have totally sucked.
