I'm currently in the process of shopping to replace my dying 21" CRT (Sony G520), love my current CRT would replace with another CRT but can't find anything close. Current monitor will switch between two computers which is a must for me as I use this monitor for my personal desktop PC and for my work laptop. Often switching between the two. Currently I use 1600x1200 (usually, sometimes higher, never lower). So for me I'd need minimum of 1600x1200 (or the widescreen comprable). Don't have a strong preference between standard LCD and widescreen but leaning towards widescreen. The biggest must for me are ability to acommadate two PC's, the resolution and 20+ screen size. Longtime fan of the big 21-24" CRT monitors sad to see few are still available.

Extra features I'm interested in widescreen, PIP, rotation, USB 2.0 builtin. I should mention that I think the Sony HS-Series monitors are too bright. With the hours I work, with getting pages at all hours of the day and being barely awake I often use the computer in the dark and think that these ultra bright monitors would bother me. However I do won't a monitor with a quick response time and accurate colors, I hate ghosting. For this reason I looked at the Asus MW221U like the 2ms response time but not crazy about the relatively low resolution (compared to 23-24" montiors), much less the fact that I can't seem to find a price or anyone carrying it.
20" monitors currently considering:
Apple 20" Cinema Display
Asus PW201
Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP
larger screens looking at:
Apple 23" Cinema HD Display
Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP
Sony PremierPro SDM-P234
Samsung 244T

Open to considering others. Really like the Apple and Sony but not sure that is the best choice as they are both over 2yr old technology. I'm sure LCD technology has advanced tremendously in the past 2+yrs. Plus the fact that Sony is no longer selling the SDM-P234 on SonyStyle makes me think they'll be coming out with a new monitor soon.

Mostly I use for office applications, Internet and Remote system monitoring tools for work. Also like to occasionally watch DVD's and DVD, or where possible HD quality movies downloaded off the internet. I regurarly have 30-50windows open at once, with 3-20 open displayed on the screen at a given time. When monitoring systems on the work system need to have windows open for all the systems I'm responsible for currently 22. Thus my need for a large screen with a high resolution. I looked at the Apple and Dell 30" screens but my video card doesn't have DVI-D dual link or the ability to run the resolutions of the 30". Current video card is couple year old Asus GeForce card AGP 8x with 256MB of video RAM, don't recall exact model. Looking at upgrading my desktop sometime next year, however I'm stuck with the work laptop for another 2-3yrs.

With my current monitor dying I'm in a sort of rush to decide and order a new monitor and not sure what the best choice would be.
