I think that this is the right place to put this. Basically I have little to know experience in this area and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro, a 13 inch 2006 macbook (the core-duo one), and my custom i5 desktop pc. I recently decided that I hate iMacs and missed having the ability to mess around inside my machine without all the hassle and I sold my 24 inch iMac to get back into building, plenty of experience there, no issues. My problem is this, I am a highschool student and I loved the ability with back to my mac that I had of connecting to my imac at home from my macbook pro at school. I have no access to my family's router as my father is also quite tech savvy and has it buttoned down tighter than a (insert your own comparison here) to be able to shut me down when he pleases and control my life digitally, that sucks, but is not the issue here, I have ways around that, what I want to do is find a way to access either my old macbook (which cannot run lion, ergo cannot use back to my mac with icloud) or my pc over the internet from afar, without having to mess with my router. I figured if apple can do it someone else has got to have a way to as well and I figure that someone here would know what that way is. Thanks!

^sorry for the chunkyness of that post, I couldn't find a paragraph break for the life of me.

Lots of remote access programs out there, but at some point you need to connect though the router, although that would usually not be an issue unless you are doing a direct connection through VPN or something. https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/

BTW, paragraph break = Enter key, starts a new line. But at least thanks for trying to explain that.

hah, thanks. I meant a logical place to break for a new line.

I know that I need to go through the router, I just cannot access the settings on the router to change them.

Thanks for the reply, I will look into that one.
