I'm almost ready to order all of the parts for my new gaming rig, but am a little confused on what RAM I should get. I originally had some picked out, but then I started reading up more about the different kinds and speeds of ram, single and dual channel ram and a hella lotta numbers for the speeds, and am not sure what kind I want to get (If someone could explain the single and dual channel thing to me, it would be much appreciated :) ). I'm planning on getting an MSI K8N Neo Plat mobo, and have heard that Corsair ram goes good with it, so I was thinking about getting a gig of that. But that's as far as I've gotten, lol. I'm ordering off of newegg, and I see 2 types of Corsair, XMS and regular, and for each kind I see a million different ways to buy 1 gig, so if anyone can help me pick out some of their ram for my system, it would be much appreciated. Also, I want to try and stay below or not very much above $200, as I saw that some of their ram is a bit pricy. Thanks! :)

PC3200 is the required RAM. PC3500 is better for overclocking. PC3700 is better still. PC4000 is even better, and PC4400 is the best for overclocking.

That's because AMD's processors run the memory stock at 200MHz (DDR400), which is labled PC3200. DDR433=PC3500, DDR466=PC3700, etc. The faster you run your bus speed, the more performance you get.

There's also the issue of latency, lower latencies are better. The fastest PC3200 runs Cas2, 2-2-2-5. As speeds increase the memory can't take those lower latencies, basically because PC4000 is just PC3200 that's been overclocked during testing.

If you don't plan on overclocking the bus, PC3200 will be fine, preferably the lowest latencies you can afford.
