Why will my mp3 player only play through the computer

i bought somw mp3 players with a flash drive and speaker on it.... i have got the music on the flash drive but the music will only play when hooked up through the usb port, as soon as i unplug the usb , the music will not play through the speaker on the mp3 or the headphones..... please help!!
