I was on the way to exchange my new Samsung 225BW (stuck pixel) & decided to stop at Monitor Depot just to see what they had. They had a bunch of CRT & LCD screens for sale & the gentleman who greeted me was definitely a fan of CRTs. He started into a rant about LCDs making people blind & having poor performance. He showed me a 23" CRT & pointed to the screen & said "that's white", & then turned a dim LCD & said "I don't know what that is!" He showed me an LCD monitor that seemed to be just the backlights & maybe a defuser, turned way up & said, "that's what you're loking at". Then he mentioned the UV that comes from the fluorescent bulbs. Later he mentioned the IR radiation from the bulbs. He said that people are going blind & their eyesight is diminishing at a rate of 5% per year. He said that he can't even look at one without getting a headache. Anyway, their card says "Repair of flat panel monitors & laptop Screens, LCD & Plasma TV's, Sales of Refurbished Flat Panels. www.Themonitorplace.com in Houston. I just thought it was funny.
If I hadmwanted one of the LCDs he had, I am sure that he would have said something like, well, OK if you want to go blind, none of my business. BTW my new 225BW is perfect. Well, almost! Thanks for reading.
