i currently have 512mb ram and i'll be getting some more, if i get another 2x 512 for a total of 1.5gb will that give me much of a performance boost over if i was to get just another 2x 256 for a total of 1gb

do applications or games these days really need more then 1gb of ram, are we likely to see games or apps needing that much in the near future

so do i get another 512mb or 1gb?

thanks guys

Games wont really benefit from more than 1g of ram some applacations will. I say just get another 512 and the speed of your ram will make the biggest difference as far as profromance goes.

Save your money and just buy another 512MBs worth of memory. The performance benefits stablize at 1gig of memory so getting anything over that, your just throwing megabytes at the computer.
