Got a question about using SATA HDD's with an ASUS K8V SE DELUXE...
The Mobo manual says to install Windows XP Service Pack 1 when using serial ATA drives...
My copy of windows xp pro, does not have service pack 1 on it because I bought it 2 years ago. Do I need to buy a new copy of xp or will the drives work anyways?

Go to google and slipstream SP1 into your install cd. Or just search for sata and sp1 in any of several forums here(probably every one you've already managed to ask this same question in) and find a link to the instructions on how to do it.

I don't recall that you need to have SP1 for SATA to work (only on USB 2.0 though).

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

Thanks for your help, I have now completed slipstreaming SP1a into a new install disk...
I will post here if I run into any problems.
