Laptop monitor backlight going out.

I got a bit of a problem with my laptops backlight. The backlight doesn't want to stay on. It started off happening every few days, and was solved by simply closing the lid and opening it up again or just pressing the little button which is pressed when i close the lid. As time went on, the problem started occuring more often and the backlight tended to go off when I moved the lid. After a bit of looking, I discovered that the light goes off when I press the place where the wires go from the laptop to the lid. The solving of the problem got a bit more complicated too. The light would not turn back on unless the lid was in a certain position, and even then it took a lot of clicking and moving the lid. Now its been going on for a few weeks and the backlight has troubles staying on when I start up the computer, but when I finally get it working, and it kind of "warms up" it gets more stable, and I can move the lid where I want it to as well.
Any ideas what may be going on? I would send the laptop to be fixed, but I'm using it every day and would prefer to do something myself.
