Swap File Location

Hello
I've always used a Swap file! However I read that placing it on another drive was prefered. What about another Partition? The OS that I'm really worried about is WIN XP Pro, and I'm using 768Mb Ram DDR Memory. At the moment I have two choices:

HD - 0 = (2 partitions) Win98/(WINXP-SWAP FILE)
HD - 1 = (2 partitions) WInXP/FILES

--- OR ---

HD - 0 = (2 partitions) Win98/FILES
HD - 1 = (2 partitions) WInXP/(WINXP-SWAP FILE)

Is placing the Swap file on the same HD but on another partition OK? I do have plenty of HD space.

Thanks for your time.
Sincerely, Sandman38

Placing it on the same hard drive in another partition is the same as putting it on the same partion...
Its better to put your swap on another HD because windows might frequently access this file wich will slow down your HD and your system. Putting it on a second HD will minimize the performance impact when Windows tries to access the swap because it will be using one HD to run the os/programs and the other to access the swap...
