Dell Inspiron 5100 or Dell Latitude D610?

First, the Inspiron 5100:

2.6 GHz Pentium 4
512 MB RAM
40 GB hard drive
2 USB slots
15" screen
DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive
Over 8 lbs (it's REALLY heavy, even for a desktop replacement)

Next, the Latitude D610:

1.7 GHz Pentium M
512 MB RAM
40 GB hard drive
4 USB slots
DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive
14" screen
Around 5 lbs (thin and light for its day)

Which would you prefer? I have to choose between these two, and I'm torn. I'm especially confused about which processor is more powerful.
