I once read a game in which you played deities and determined the future
of a world in a structured game environment.

Now, I think it was called DEUS and was a publically available Net
thing, but if you try and search for anything with DEUS or game in then
you are swamped with links for DEUS EX the FPS computer game!

Does anyone else remember this game and know where I may find it or what
it is called?

In fact, whilst we are at it, I am happy to be reminded of any other
such games, all are of interest!

This premise sounds similar to Nobilis, but there is (was?) also an RPG
like that called Deus Ex. I don't know much about it, but you can read
about it on RPGnet:

In that case, it might help searching for "deus -ex". IIRC,
in Google the minus prefix will exclude all pages on which
the word appears.

I remember one very incomplete (as in unfinished, rather
than as in the designer couldn't be bothered to make an
actual system) system in which the PCs were gods, but I
can't recall the name.

Sorry, I read the text, which was only one or two pages,
more than half a decade ago. Since it didn't in the least
impress me, I've forgotten almost everything about it.

This sounds a bit like Pantheon, by Robin Laws, to me (although it
wasn't available on the net, so maybe not). A story telling/bidding sort
of system, comes with 5 scenarios, the last one of which is Pantheon
itself, where the players create deities and the universe by making
statements and bidding against each other to make their statements true.
We never really got on very well with it...

cheers,

Mark

Thanks folks, I followed the rpg.net review, found that they had renamed
it, no doubt because of the FPS computer game, and am a happy bunny..

Having a name that is search engine friendly is quite important.
