Hey all

I just had to replace some parts in my computer due to a failed overclock :( and this has meant the need to buy new memory...i am currently using a 256mb dimm out of another computer until i decide what memory to get for this, i was just hoping for some help on choosing the appropriate memory

The motherboard i have is an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with a 2500+ Athlon XP cpu, I was thinking of getting 2x256 Mb of corsair or OCZ but i was wondering if that was a little over the top and wether i should go with something a little more standard....since it's a dual channel motherboard is it really nescissary to buy dual packaged dimms or can you just buy to of the same type from a store and have that work fine too?

I probably won't be overclocking even though i want to because it's not my computer, my father is very conservative when it comes to things like that :(

unfortunatly for corsair, they are having a few problems at the moment with their ram. ocz is too expensive for the pc you have at the moment.

go for some cheap kingmax ddr333, its good stuff.

2.6C @ 3.25G (Zalman 7000AU-ALCU HSF)
ABIT IC7-Max3
2x Kingmax SuperRam 512 DDR433
GeXcube 9800pro @ 450/750
80G Seagate S-ATA150
Antec Super Lanboy w/ 350 Smart Blue PSU

You can buy just two of the same modules and not have any problems. Just buy both of them at the same time. I would stay with standard memory at the speed the FSB can handle which should be PC2700.

Thanx for the reply

Wouldn't it be better to go for DDR400, This motherboard has a 400mhz FSB... Plus if i want Kingmax the only store in Perth (where i am, the most isolated capital city in the world :p) that stocks it only stocks it in PC3200...

Whats happened to Corsair?

In terms of cost my options are (i'll convert them to US to make it easier)

Kingmax Cas2.5 2x256 PC3200 $150
OCZ cl2.5 2x256 PC3200 $175
OCZ Cl2 2x256 PC3200 $196

I was thinking of getting the OCZ CL2 for the timings but i'm not sure if that would have any signifigant effect on this setup?

Really curious about corsair though, I hadn't heard anything about them and they've always had a great rep... odd

Thanx again
