I have a old Toshiba Satillite pro CDT430 running win98 and a new Toshiba satillite running vista. I want connect the 2 computers any way possible to get updates,
programs, and stuff. The old win98 has a female monitor jack and a few smaller ones that i dont have, also one larg flat jack with many female pin sockets. It has a pc modem card for the smaller network cables and my newer lap top has same small network jack ,the 2 also have the monitor cable connection. So there are 2 ways to connect small network cable and the monitor jack so please someone let me know if it is even possible to run data over these lines and if so how would i do this and is there freeware programs that make this simple.

PS just want to connect 2 units for data with what ever i can use.

You can't use a monitor jack for data transfer - you'll probably end up breaking both systems.

You can use a simple network transfer here. Windows 98 is a little difficult sometimes with this, but it can be done. Connect both computers via ethernet to a router and use the XP machine to do the major work, after enabling file sharing on the 98. Either that, or you can use Direct Cable Connection via ethernet, i believe, by connecting the two together via ethernet.
