Sorry I'm posting here, but this is a more likely place to get an answer. Ok, I formatted my HDD, and realized oh crap where are the messages outlook 2000 (the one that comes w/ ms office, not the outlook express) stored. Where are they stored, cause I'm in deep sh!t if I loose em.

My frog asked me for a straw...dunno what happened his ass all over the place

c:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst

if you don't find it search "*.pst" files. this file contains all your emails. you can also make an export then an import in Outlook.

Ok, here's a toughy: is there any chance of getting a file back after hdd was formatted and then formatted again (well only the C partition of it).

have you installed something on 'C:' since the reformat (of the reformat)?
because in that case, this is noway. you can't do anything. (previous data have been replaced by the new ones.)

Well yes I have, but isn't there a chance? It's still possible from what I've read that it's just in a different sector of the hdd. I got this software called File Scavenger V2, but it's a demo (can only retrieve up to 32kb) and these files (I found a few) are over a meg. There are no serials or anything for it yet, but I need this NOW, cause I am in DEEP SH!T. Anyone know of excellent recovery software (I mean something that's really crazy- I don't give a damn how long it takes to scan/ recover the data). This is urgent.

The other issue is there was a few backups my dad made onto HDD.....he claims they're on CD, and restore software DOES FIND THE FOLDERS AND DATA INTACT! but won't let me restore b/c demo limitations. I ain't gonna do much on comp except wait till I get some sort of software.....

what's the name of the norton utility (I have partition d to which I'm installing things). Most of those are demos, which only allow you to see what they can recover. I searhed on norton's website, but can;'t find a data recovery tool...

Norton Utilities 2002. the recover utility is integrated (you can't extract it alone) but it exists a trial download of the complete package.
