I am confused on exactly what happens when you install two complete different ram stiks. The only thing they have in common is that they are pc100.

So my question is when i install for example ddr333 and ddr400 the two will run at ddr333 right?

Another thing is, what if they have different timings, then what happens, do they keep their unique timings? How does that work?

BOTH sticks will run at the lowest common timings / speed the 2 have in common

BTW, you can't install DDR RAM, into that mobo - which supports SDRAM

I am running two 256MB Crucial stix of 2100 and 3200 in XP+ box, both run at 2100 speed at 2.2.2.5 timings even they are 2.5 and 3 by default. No problemaz.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

Thanks you guys have been very insightful and BTW i was talking about two different comps, sorry i didn't specify.
Ned_Flanders can you specify when you say the default was 2.5 and 3.Are you saying you forced the other ram stick to 2.5 even though it wasn't supported?

I think you were asking my post, but anyway, I did "force" two sticks from 2.5 and 3 down to 2 for latency settings, it is no problem if memory "can" run these settings.

PS: I guess you need litteral explanation
there are two sticks of memory: one is 2100 (DDR266) with CAS 2.5, the other is 3200 (DDR400) with CAS 3. In the BIOS I've set them to be 2100 (DDR266) and run at CAS 2. They can be set to be 2700 (DDR333) and run at CAS 3 if I would want to overclock the CPU and one stick of memory. Hope that helps.

No, sorry. I worded that badly, I mean't they will default to BOTH run at 3
