I just upgraded the ram in my gateway mx8739 laptop. It had 1g 2 x 512 and I put 2 x 2g. Of course this did not work b/c the mobo only supports 2g max. I found that out after purchase. The 2g chip and 512mb work fine, but bios reads single channel now.
My question is It better to go with more ram in single channel than less in dual channel?
