Black screen

Hello, hello i have an amd desktop from emachines, it originally came with vista home premium OS. it started taking long time to start up so i decided to load win 7 home premium on. the machine came on once then goes to black screen. each time i reboot it makes one beep then all you see is a black screen. can you help. number on board DA078L BOXER.

Was it a legal copy of 7 as the illegal Ultimates usually come with a rather nice set of viruses...
