I am running XP Home. When I go to Windows Update, all I get is a screen that advises that it is "Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software" and that it may take several minutes, depending on connection speed. I am running a DSL line through a linksys router. Nothing happens after I get that opening screen.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Also, try closing your browser, deleting the temporary internet files from Internet Tools in Control Panel, then attempting to go to Windows Update again. If this doesn't work, restart your computer and try again.
