Will this graphics system be able to deal with a wide screen monitor at 1440x900 native?

How do you set these odd resolutions for the graphics adapter? Additional software, inf file?

Depends on the game. There are probably a lot of newer games that you would have a hard time with; then again, I could be wrong. The integrated graphics from Intel are not that powerful. You can, however, put black borders around your screen (don't use any scaling) and run at a lower resolution -- that is if your monitor allows that.

Here's a quick question: are you able to run the games fine as is? If so, what resolution do you run in now? multiply the height by the width... does it come out the same or less than 1440 x 900? That might be indicative of whether things would be ok.

Depends on the game; each game may be different, and under some cases a few won't work like you want. There is a site somewhere that has info on a lot of games for this.
