Hello:

I have bought a used Toshiba Portege 3140CT laptop. The 20 GB hard disk had only Dos on it. I had remove the hard disk from the laptop. Then, I attached it to my desktop computer. I had loaded Windows XP Pro on the hard disk. Booting from the laptop hard disk, the operating system works great on the desktop computer. When I place the laptop hard disk back in to the Toshiba Portege 3140CT laptop, I am ask to insert OS disk in drive A. The BIOS on the laptop is set to boot from CD-ROM->Hard Disk->Floop Drive, in that order. Please what did I do wrong?

Sincerely,

You installed windows on a computer that wasn't going to use it. You can't just change hard disks from computer to computer and expect windows to still work - when it installs, it installs sets of drivers and a new registry specifically built for that machine. You need to install windows on the notebook on the notebook, if that makes sense.
